Jenna Fischer: on Bankruptcy and Baby Showers
The current season of The Office shows our larger-than-life work setting beset by the bankruptcy scare, and for some episodes, the Dunder Mifflin bigwigs have been fighting tooth and nail to ward off the recession which has been constantly ringing their doorbell.

However, Jenna Fischer reveals in an interview that the whole staff is practically affected by the financial crisis. Therefore, for the remaining episodes, The Office fans are expected to see changes within the work place. What would that be is left to be discovered. As an early hunch, I know certain real-life companies have resorted to double tasking just to save everyone’s neck from the firing axe. With the overly-exaggerated comical relief brought out by our favorite show, we might be seeing the DM executives sweeping the floor or typing clerical matters. Later on, an episode finally shows a resolution to the bankruptcy through a buyout. Well, for now, we can set aside the financial crap for the mean time.
But for Jenna Fischer’s character, Pam, a bigger concern is her pregnancy. Much has changed in Pam’s role. She has been a receptionist, and now, saleswomanship is added to her hat. At the onset of the current season, the world witnessed her marriage to Jim, and now she’s heavy with the fruit of their love. Once motherhood sets on her, we’d expect much more in her juggling act as a career woman and rank-and-file-officer.

She’s set to give birth on 2010. So what’s in store for the baby? Definitely, we have the whole office workforce pampering the little bundle of joy. I assume a lively baby shower, where the little baby would receive presents made from recycled office materials. (As a move to lessen office expense in the midst of recession) Perhaps, they would even prepare a desk for the little baby in a manner that they moved Pam to a much cozier office area, away from the reception desk she considers as a cold, lonely island. Back in the 1990’s, Murphy Brown had her baby, Avery, and for one episode, the whole news team members took turns in babysitting the baby while Murphy is away searching for a scoop. I see a little revival of the fun in the Office very soon.
