The Office and The Wedding
“Four years ago, I was just a guy who had a crush on a girl who had a boyfriend” is how Jim commences his toast at the rehearsal banquet the night before the nuptials. He expresses his anguish at having to wait. For a man in love, he states that it is, perhaps, the most demanding thing to do. However, he does not regret the wait because he knows it will be worth it. After all, he is waiting for the love of his life, and his to-be wife!

Weeping was, perhaps, a bare minimum as a reaction to such a heartrending scene. However, this was merely the start – there are going to be plenty of emotionally charged The Office episodes.
8th October, 2009’s episode of The Office concluded one of the most anticipated weddings of the year. And justly so, because The Office pulled it off in flawlessly! The comedy returned, and how! After the triple episode absence, it was all the more noticeable. However, the emphasis could not be snatched away from zenith of a years-long love story. The romance went full circle as there was an echo of one of first Jim-Pam moments from season 1(“Diversity Day”) where, following a dreary day, Pam laid her head on Jim’s shoulders and Jim, at the end of the episode tells us that it was “Not a bad day”!

Other details of the episode include the initial scene where, while everyone was puking, Creed, as indifferent as ever, goes about his business of eating noodles! Also, Dwight tells his tale to a table-full of kids, and his obsession with twins, regardless of gender. Meanwhile, Meema manages to somehow infer from the hotel that had Bruno on the TV that Jim and Pam are unpleasant folks. Kevin admires Oscar’s “think, beautiful chicano hair” and his shoe situation or “safety issue” as he referred to it. On the other hand, Andy’s dances resulting in injuries in a certain part of his body during the “Bernard throw-down” which culminate in him lying on Pam’s bed with an icepack on his groin! For the marriage, Stanley gifts a toaster yet again, Michael’s gift, Dwight’s gift, and discusses the “etiquette” of getting the gifts when the wedding doesn’t push through! Another interesting scene is the entrance (thankfully, they admitted to its origins being based on a youtube video), because everyone was there, and they remind us why we love these people so much. And finally, the event we were all eager to see – the actual wedding and the scene with the cheery pair being so earnest and nonchalant in that boat, against a backdrop of insanity by the Dunder Mufflin people in the church
As an afterthought, I compiled my ten favourite Jim-Pam moments. I’m sure I missed a lot, so feel free to add and arrange them in whichever way you please. But, for the mean time a toast to the happy couple, and a classic The Office episode!
